Christopher Bell
Chris is the Senior Partner of the firm, he specialises in Family Law. having joined the firm in February 1999 upon qualification.
Chris is a member of Resolution.
Chris’s role involves advising clients in relation to all matters that affect couples upon separation, including divorce, children, domestic violence, property and financial issues. He can also provide advice at the beginning of a relationship with regard to pre and post nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements.
Chris has extensive experience in representing clients in complex family matters.
Chris supervises the Family and Private Client Departments.
Chris can also advise and assist with regard to Settlement Agreements in respect of Employment matters.
Nicholas Price
Nick qualified as a solicitor in 2008 he is the Managing Partner at Latham & Co. He is an experienced litigator undertaking a wide variety of work representing both businesses and private individuals.
Nick advises upon and deals with contractual and commercial disputes, construction contracts and litigation, property disputes (including possession of property), landlord & tenant disputes, debt recovery, negligence claims, and contested wills (including inheritance claims).
His area of expertise includes identifying and advising upon risk at the outset of any matter whether contentious (including disputes or litigation) or non-contentious (including drafting contracts, declarations or agreements).
Nick understands the challenges faced by both rural and urban communities, having lived and worked in both areas.
Nick supervises the Civil Litigation Department.
Trevor Kirkman
Trevor is a Consultant Solicitor with the firm. He was educated at Loughborough Grammar School and Cambridge University and has over 40 years experience as a solicitor.
He has wide experience of commercial property including development and construction, options, sales and purchases. He has experience in dealing with Agricultural matters and Employment work.
Trevor can advise on wills and estate planning, including inheritance tax and capital gains tax.
Trevor advises on all aspects of ecclesiastical law, charitable trusts and property. He has served on the Committee of the Ecclesiastical Law Society. He is a past president of Leicestershire Law Society and has been a Notary Public since 1978.
Trevor is also HM Coroner for Rutland and North Leicestershire.
Martina Taylor
Assistant Solicitor
Martina is a solicitor primarily based at the Loughborough Office, she has worked extensively with regard to property matters prior to qualifying as a solicitor.
Martina qualified as a solicitor in January 2023 having work for Latham & Co in the conveyancing department as a paralegal prior to training to be a Solicitor
Martina is supervised by Nelly Chipman.
Nazmin Uddin
Assistant Solicitor
Nazmin Joined Latham & Co in July 2024 to work in the private client department.
Nazmin qualified as a Solicitor in January 2024 specialising in Private Client matters.
Prior to qualifying, Nazmin has 3 years of experience in the Private Client work. She has dealt with Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate matters.
Nazmin’s main priority is to ensure she builds not only a professional relationship with her clients but also a personal one. She likes to describe herself as friendly and approachable.
Nazmin will be primarily based in our Melton Mowbray Office.
Daniel Helstrip
Trainee Solicitor
Daniel is a Trainee Solicitor based primarily in the Loughborough Office working in the Conveyancing Department.
Daniel has extensive knowledge of Civil litigation and Private Client work having previously spent time in these Departments.
Nelly Chipman
Nelly is a partner at Latham & Co having joined the firm in 2011. She is an experienced commercial and residential property solicitor. Her area of expertise includes retail property, secured lending, business leases and residential acquisition and disposals. She qualified as a solicitor in 2003 and has developed her residential and commercial property practice.
She also enjoys building relationships with clients, getting to know them, their business and contributing to their success.
Nelly is also a qualified Notary Public and is able to offer these services to clients.
She has a LLM and graduated from Manchester University with a Masters in International Business Law.
Nelly supervises and is Head of the Commercial and Residential Property Departments, she is also the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) with regard to the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS)
Phillipa Howett
Associate
Phillipa is a Chartered Legal Executive (having qualified in 2015) and is based at the Melton Mowbray office.
Phillipa initially joined Latham and Co in 2001 in an administrative role.
Phillipa is a specialist in the private client department dealing with wills, probate, lasting powers of attorney and deputyship applications.
She prides herself in providing a service based upon the needs of the individual client in a friendly approachable yet professional manner.
Phillipa is able to undertake home, hospital and nursing home visits where necessary.
Phillipa is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly
James Bolton
Solicitor
James joined Latham & Co in October 2024 and works in the Private Client Department based in our Loughborough office.
James has many years experience and is a specialist Private Client Solicitor, having qualified in 2000.
James is able to advise with regard to Estate Administration, Trusts, Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection matters.
Kate Gardner
Chartered Legal Executive
Kate joined Latham & Co in September 2022 and works in our Melton Mowbray Office
Kate is a Chartered Legal Executive and qualified as a Fellow in 2008. Kate deals with all aspects of conveyancing on residential properties. She has many years’ experience especially in the Melton and Rutland area and can offer a well-rounded approach, is extremely conscientious and dedicated to providing a high standard of client care.
Kate is supervised by Nelly Chipman.
Christine Hill
Chartered Legal Executive
Christine qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1999 and is now a Chartered Legal Executive. She specialises in residential conveyancing.
Christine handles all types of residential conveyancing work from small pieces of land to large house sales and purchases. She also deals with re-mortgages, auction sales and transfers of equity.
Christine is an experienced conveyancer and is committed to helping both buyers and sellers achieve an early and stress free completion of their transactions.
Christine is supervised by Nelly Chipman.
Hayley Dennis
Senior Paralegal
Hayley is a senior paralegal in the private client department having joined Latham & Co in 2022, she is primarily based at our Loughborough office.
Hayley specialises in dealing with wills, lasting powers of attorney and probate maters.
Hayley is extremely experienced qualifying as a Paralegal in 2019 but having previously worked as a Legal Secretary in a private client department for over 20 years.
